I am a Poker Player / Student who just recently got heavily involved in MTT's. Before this year I would only play some of the big Sunday tournies every now and then. That all changed when I discovered the Paradise Poker Masters series. My friends were playing in the events and I became interested, and decided at the last second to enter the Main Event. I finished 3rd for about $110,000 dollars and the rest they say, is history :-)

A New Year

A New Year's resolution of mine is to write more, which may be good news for the 4 or so many people that read this blog. It will be hard to surpass last year's total posts but I will try my best :-)

I'm already off to a good start this year, winning a 100 FO on Stars, and one of the nightly 129's on UB. I'm feeling pretty confident about my game, despite not playing as much recently. I still have been reading, studying and discussing which has helped me stay fresh. I have also been trying to play more cash games this year, and I'm off to a good start in that area, hopefully it will continue. Cash games are definitely more profitable for me, but I think I enjoy the competition of tournies so much I have stayed away from them for awhile. This year a goal of mine is to have a good balance of the games I play.

I'm back baby!

Tonight was crazy. It seemed like every tourney I entered I would build a big stack only to go down in flames really late. I was feeling real good about my play in all of the tournies, but it was disappointing always getting knocked out right before the big money. Fortunately, I fared much better in my last tourney of the night, the Lava 25r on Paradise. I had a big stack pretty much the whole tourney, and I was able to make the final table around 5th in chips. Weapon X was moved to my immediate right, and we were involved in a big hand right away. The Blinds were 8k/16k with an ante of around 1k, when it was folded to him in the SB and he completed. I had 63o and checked. The flop came out 35T(2 hearts) and he min bet into me, I called. The turn brought an 8, he checked and I did as well. The river came another Ten and if he had a flush draw he missed. He quickly bet all in for about 110,000 chips. This bet sent warning bells off, I knew something was fishy. Instead of throwing it away immediately, I thought to myself, "What could he have?" The more and more I thought about it, the less likely it seemed to me that he would make this play with any kind of made hand. It had to be a bluff. I called, and my bottom pair was good :-)

After that, I had a good amount of chips and, despite the shallow stacks, I was never really in any danger of getting knocked out until we got headsup. The blinds were pretty high, and we were even stacked going in to it. I made a few mistakes, and eventually ran into aces finishing 2nd for about $4,000. The money wasn't even a very big deal to me. I was more happy about how I played and my finish than the money. Finally I feel like I can accomplish something again in Poker :-D

I run BAD

I have had probably the worst 2 or so weeks of poker in my life. No big scores, lots of times I'm making it far with real good stacks and something happens. I either get caught playing too fast, or a brutal suckout to cripple me. I still feel I'm playing well so that's a positive, and I sign that success should continue in the future. If you see me bitching at a table, it's probably because I've been so stressed from this downswing, so watch out!

First Post!

Well this is my first ever post in my first ever blog. It will be short. That is all.
